Welcome to the 2016-2017 School Year
Lots of work went on this summer, as our professionals prepared for the upcoming year with learners!
Phonics First trainings for our K-3 teachers, to connecting and learning with over 700 language arts teachers from across the state of Michigan in Lansing, to collaborating with Professors from GVSU on Algebra and Gemometry courses, our professionals are going the extra mile to help all kids Discover, Learn and Succeed!
Our technology department remains busy installing new laptop computers and wireless service throughout the district to give Cardinals access to learning supports that stay current and updated. Orchard View is grateful to the community for passing the Security and Technology millage which allows the district to provide this equipment and safe environment our learners deserve. We will continue our focus on implementing technology to benefit learning throughout the year.
Orchard View is proud to continue our distinction as an AdvancED Accredited District and you can click the link below to view the exit powerpoint:
Last year, the Michigan Department of Education shifted from the ACT test to the SAT test to measure the college and Career Readiness of 11th Grade learners across the State. Even though the test has changed, Orchard View is committed to continuing to provide rich educational experiences and the 21st Century Learning environments all learners need to prepare them to be college AND career ready by their graduation from Orchard View High School. You can learn more about the SAT test below.
It is never too early to talk to your child about their dreams for the future, and to remind them that work ethic and perseverance are needed to make dreams become a reality. Make visits to campuses a family activity. Talk to professionals to learn about the training required for that profession. Together, let’s expect the best from our students and ourselves, so that all students are prepared to be independent learners beyond their K-12 education.
