Professional Learning

Development of the Profession

Making sense of our complex and ever changing world involves the courage to explore our assumptions, broaden our perspectives, and understand our ways of knowing the world.  In the 21st century professionals have tremendous opportunities to break our of the "egg-crate" design of learning environments to collaborate across the building or across the world; working together educators create rich adult learning environments focused on transforming school-wide classroom practices.

Adult learning has shifted from a transactional environment to one where the transformation of professional practice is supported through the cognitive, affective, interpersonal and intrapersonal exchanges happening in the halls, work rooms, and on-line chats between professionals.  These are the experiences which not only develop the individuals taking part, but more importantly serve to transform the profession of learning.
