MOST RECENT NEWS: WE HAVE CREATED A GOOGLE EMAIL SHORTCUT THAT YOU SHOULD SEE WHEN YOU LOGIN TO YOUR WORK PC THAT LOOKS LIKE THIS:
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU WILL NOW HAVE 2 SEPARATE LOGINS AND PASSWORDS - ONE FOR THE NETWORK ON YOUR WORK PC AND ONE FOR GOOGLE (EMAIL). YOUR PASSWORDS WILL BE THE SAME ONLY IF YOU MAKE THEM SO.
THEMES ARE NOW AVAILABLE THAT ALLOW YOU TO CHANGE THE LOOK AND FEEL OF GOOGLE APPS. YOU CAN BROWSE AND CHANGE YOUR THEME BY CLICKING ON SETTINGS IN THE TOP RIGHT AREA OF THE GMAIL PAGE AND THEN CLICKING ON THE THEMES TAB/LINK ALONG THE TOP.
GROUPS (SIMILAR TO FORMER DISTRICT WIDE DISTRO LISTS) ARE BEING CREATED AND WILL APPEAR IN THE GROUPS SECTION.
IMPORTANT: You can no longer email documents/attachments within Microsoft Office products like Word, Excel, Publisher, etc. This worked in the past because Outlook is a Microsoft product. To email a document you must first save it and then attach it to the email in Google by clicking Upload and then browsing to it.
Google Apps is up and functional. You should be able to send and receive email now using the information you received via the old email system. You can still login to the old email system with your network user name and password for reference only. You can no longer send or receive email via the old system.
If you used the program Microsoft Outlook on your PC which was most prevalent in building offices, then you can export your Outlook calendar events and Outlook contacts and import them into Google Apps using the instructions below. Unfortunately there is currently no way to do the same thing using OWA or the web mail based version of Exchange which is what most teaching staff was using and you will have to manually add your contacts or calendar events that you still wish to use. Please note however, that the Global Address Directory is built into the Google mail system and you can find any Orchard View employee by simply typing in the first few letters of their first or last name in any of the email address fields.
Google Apps including mail, calendar, and contacts is available for you to use on many mobile smartphones like the BlackBerry, Droid, or iPhone. We do not officially support the use of Google Apps on your mobile device unless your device is provided to you by the district.
