Home Learning Resources

There have been many questions about an online learning program during this time. It is important for you to know that, if a school district mandates distance learning to count for instructional hours, the district is responsible for ensuring that all Orchard View students have access to a device with internet connection.

Until we are able to ensure that all of our students are equipped with these essential elements, we are not able to require online instruction and/or distance learning to count for grades or credit. With this in mind, we remain dedicated to student learning during the closure period by providing families with a variety of high-quality enrichment and learning opportunities that will help students remain engaged in grade-relevant content from home.

During stressful times, having a regular schedule is important for students, especially our youngest learners. As a helpful resource, we would like to share with you a sample daily schedule that you could consider using to organize your child's day. Please see the examples from various grade levels linked below, and our resource for supporting the social-emotional health of your child adapted from the Trails to Wellness program from the University of Michigan Medical School.

Supporting Student Wellness During COVID 19

Early Elementary (K-2) Sample Daily Schedule

Upper Elementary (3-5) Sample Daily Schedule

Middle School Sample Daily Schedule

High School Sample Daily Schedule

These examples, along with the links below are not intended to replace the high-quality curriculum and instruction that is delivered every day in the classroom by our dedicated and highly-qualified teaching staff.

These resources provide enrichment activities to support reading, writing, math, science, social studies, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Although the district or teachers cannot require students to complete these activities for a grade or credit, we encourage families to utilize them to support our learners and help keep them academically engaged.

While Orchard View Schools is closed following Governor Whitmer’s announcement, there are many opportunities for students to continue their learning at home. These resources are intended to help students maintain skills.   Below, please find resources to support your child at home. These resources are NOT required for students and participation will not impact their grades.  We appreciate your partnership and support during this time.
