Virtual Learning

Orchard View currently has a fully virtual option for students during this unprecedented time. All courses are facilitated by Orchard View Highly Qualified teachers utilizing the Edmentum platform for curriculum delivery. K-5 students are assigned a teacher to help guide students and Learning Guides (parents or caregivers) through Calvert, a project-based approach to the content. 6-12th grade students are assigned credit-bearing courses through Courseware. Teachers and mentors are assigned to all students and courses for help, mentoring, and general guidance, though the courses are much more self-directed and independent.

In order for students to be successful in this virtual option, students must be committed to spending as much time with their virtual work as they would face-to-face, between 5-6 hours a day. K-5 students must have a parent or caregiver available to be a Learning Guide throughout the day and all students must have high quality internet for checking email regularly, attending Google Meets or Zoom meetings with teachers, and for completing online assignments.

If you are interested in switching your student to OV’s virtual program, please click on the overview video below that corresponds to your child’s grade level for a more in-depth understanding of this program through the lens of the grade level teacher before making your request.
